Octopus walks on land at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve

If you consider the fact that an octopus has no skeleton whatsoever--endo or exo, this feat is nothing short of amazing (I know, I say everything is amazing on this blog, but it really is! That's why I put it all here!). And then there's the fact that the octopus cannot breathe the entire time it is out of water. What would inspire it to leave the water? Looking for food? A new territory? Escape? We can only speculate. You may wish to mute the sound while you watch b/c the excited commentary is....difficult for me to endure!

Fitzgerald Marine Reserve is a marine protected area just south of San Francisco.
